Intensive Care Unit
The intensive care unit (ICU) at Kosciusko Community Hospital provides continuous monitoring and treatment of critically ill patients. Because patients in the ICU require specialized care, visitors should understand that their visit might be interrupted or cut short based on the needs of the patient and our doctors.
Our ICU/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) consists of fourteen private rooms fully equipped to monitor and respond to the needs of the critical care patient, which includes one dedicated bariatric room.
Approximately 600 patients are admitted to the ICU/PCU each year as a result of:
- Heart Attacks
- Severe Respiratory Distress
- Complicated Surgical Procedures
- Pacemaker Insertions
- Other Critical Medical Conditions
These patients are monitored and cared for by a team of specially trained physicians and staff members. Our staff members utilize a monitoring system to continuously monitor heart rhythm and vital signs.
