Women's Imaging Offers Digital Mammography, Bone Densitometry (DEXA) & Ultrasound

MAMMOGRAPHY
Early detection is truly the best protection in the fight against breast cancer. Every woman age 40 and over should have a yearly mammogram. Come and experience the digital difference at KCH.

KCH Women's Imaging Center offers:

• State of the art full field digital mammography with the Hologic Selenia system. Full field digital mammography is especially recommended for premenopausal women and women with dense breast tissue. Advantages of digital mammography over film mammography include quicker exam times, images with greater detail and lower patient radiation dose.
• R2 Computer Aided Detection
  A computer analyzes each mammogram study and marks areas of interest for further review by the Radiologist.
• The MammoPad
  A single use foam pad is placed on the mammography machine and results in a softer, warmer exam.

Remember to schedule your yearly mammogram. Do not wear deodorant to your exam. Please bring any prior mammograms from outside facilities to KCH prior to your exam date. Outside facilities can also send prior mammograms to Kosciusko Community Hospital so we have up-to-date records on your mammogram history.

BONE DENSITOMETRY
The measurement of bone density is used to diagnose osteoporosis. The bone mineral density (BMD) is used to predict the risk of future fractures. The information received from a bone density scan helps your physician to determine an appropriate prevention or treatment regimen.

We offer:

• State of the art digital bone densitometry with the GE Lunar system using enCORE software. Advantages of digital bone densitometry over existing fan beam systems include more rapid scans, near radiograph quality images, decreased dose and greater imaging capabilities.

Patients typically return every two years to monitor changes, depending on the individual clinical history. Remember to stop taking any calcium supplements at least 24 hours prior to exam and arrive in comfortable, metal-free (zippers, snaps, etc.) clothing.
