Kosciusko Community Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) consists of eight private rooms fully equipped to monitor and respond to the needs of the critical care patient.
Approximately 600 patients are admitted to the ICU each year as a result of:
- Heart Attacks
- Shock
- Trauma
- Severe Respiratory Distress
- Complicated Surgical Procedures
- Pacemaker Insertions
- Other Critical Medical Conditions
These patients are monitored and cared for by a team of specially trained physicians and staff members. ICU staff members utilize an invasive monitoring system for continuously measuring pressures inside a patient's heart. ICU staff members also electronically monitor the heart rhythms of up to twelve patients on the Medical/Surgical Care Unit.
